Yoga could be described as an ancient system of practices used to balance the mind and body through meditation, exercise, and breath control. 

It is a mind and body practice. It combines the aforementioned elements and creates harmony and relaxation and promotes wellbeing. 

Some of the most common types of yoga today are:

  • Vinyasa Yoga
  • Hatha Yoga
  • Lyengar Yoga
  • Kundalini Yoga
  • Ashtanga Yoga
  • Bikram Yoga
  • Yin Yoga

Restorative Yoga

Some of these forms have been created from the 1900`s and up, inspired by the older forms. Rig Veda, the oldest written Sanskrit work, mentions Vedic Yoga. This is the oldest known Yoga form. It combined the four main paths of yoga, Raja Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Jnama Yoga. The vedas was written about 2500 years ago.
